PILGRIMAGE IN THE FRAMEWORK OF JACOB'S CYCLING SOCIETY
Spouses Helena and Franc Štefanič have been organizing and leading bicycle pilgrimages along all three Ways of Jacob since 2010. In 2021, however, other members of the association will also lead the Ways of Jacob and one-day pilgrimages.
Visit the Višar Jakobovo pot on the first weekend in June, when the gondola from Žabnice to Višarje starts running again. Pilgrimage along the Central Way of St. James traditionally takes place in July, namely on the feast of St. Jakob, 25.7., ends in the Church of St. Jacob in Trieste. During the celebrations of social anniversaries, the pilgrimage time is adjusted to the time of solemn mass in the Church of St. Jakob in Ljubljana. On the Prekmurska-Stajera route, pilgrims go after Velika Maša in the second half of August.
Pilgrimage dates are published on the website of the Slovenia - Camino cycling association, in the weekly Druzina and on Radio Ognjišče. Society members and participants of past organized pilgrimages are notified by email by the secretary of the society. Pilgrimage dates can be postponed for various reasons, so it is a good idea to check the dates before applying.
