Based on the data that the pilgrims traveled to Spain also through the northern part of Slovenia and Italy, research was started on the route from Ljubljana to Višarij and the second leg of the foot and bicycle route through Gorenjska was mapped out. On September 5, 2012, the Višarska Jakobova poti was opened and blessed in Ribne pri Bled. The solemn mass was led by the then archbishop Anton Stres, who also blessed the new path, and the ceremonial opening was performed by the then president of the NSI, Ljudmila Novak.
The cycling route runs through Gorenjska through the following municipalities: Ljubljana, Medvode, Škofja Loka, Kranj, Naklo, Radovljica, Bled, Gorje, Kranjska Gora and Trbiž. The pilgrimage route passes 6 churches dedicated to St. Jakob in Ljubljana, Stanežiče, Petelinec, Škofja Loka, Podbrez and Ribne.
Anyone who wants to return to Ljubljana by train has to drive another 40 km to Jesenice.
